Webinar Details

In this free live webinar, we will cover:

  • Human-Relevant Maturity: Learn how 3D bioengineered tissues reach a stable, adult-like metabolic and structural state by day 21.

  • Predictive Metabolic Function: Explore breakthroughs in capturing robust insulin-stimulated glucose uptake and mature GLUT4 localization for diabetes research.

  • Exercise Physiology In Vitro: See how exercise-mimicking stimulation and detraining mirror real-world human muscle plasticity and reversibility.

  • New Biological Insights: Discover the role of GYS1 and glycogen metabolism in sustaining muscle endurance under metabolic stress.

Join this webinar for the opportunity to learn more and join the live Q&A.

Summary

The translational gap between animal models and human clinical outcomes often stems from fundamental interspecies differences in fiber composition and metabolic regulation. This webinar features a landmark study from Novo Nordisk and the University of Copenhagen, utilizing Curi Bio’s Mantarray 3D skeletal muscle ecosystem.

We will detail a comprehensive workflow for generating functionally mature human muscle tissues that stabilize for longitudinal study. By integrating physiological, pharmacological, and genetic perturbations, the research team demonstrated that these tissues not only mirror human-like responses to insulin and exercise but also reveal new mechanisms of metabolic resilience. This session will provide a roadmap for using New Approach Methodologies (NAMs) to advance drug discovery for obesity, diabetes, and neuromuscular diseases.
